David King is a trained craftsperson who believes in the aura of handmade artifacts. His projects often begin with research into historical manufacturing processes while grappling with an ever-quickening technological present. The result is an imagined reality where tradition and innovation coincide in absurdly impractical objects and installations.

King earned an MFA from Tyler School of Art and Architecture in 2011. He has twice been a fellow at WheatonArts, an emerging artist in residence at the Pilchuck Glass School, and an artist in residence at Sunderland University in the UK. King’s work has been widely exhibited and honored with awards from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, the Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle, and Contemporary Craft in Pittsburgh. The Corning Museum of Glass has highlighted his work in several issues of the New Glass Review as well as including five objects in the 2019 exhibition, New Glass Now. King has taught at numerous institutions and conducted workshops nationally and internationally.
