Scott Spears has been working in film and video production for over forty years. He started out working with Super-8, making short comedies and horror films with his friends. He has shot over thirty feature films, numerous short films, commercials and music videos. Scott won an Emmy Award for his photography on the short film, "The Birthmark" which aired nationally on PBS.   He won an Emmy Award in 2024 for the feature length documentary, "A Higher Law: The Oberlin-Wellington Rescue of 1858" about the Underground Railroad.
 
Scott has shot 31 feature films, among them are the boxing drama, “The King of Irontown”, the snow boarding drama “White Air” featuring Riley Smith, Dominique Swain and Tom Sizemore, the drama “Cold Ones” featuring C. Thomas Howell and "Asylum of Darkness" starring Richard Hatch and Tim Thomerson.
 
Recently, Scott has focused on documentary films by producing two documentaries on Columbus  neighborhood, a documentary about a Columbus artist and his anthropologist wife which screened at the Ohio History Center and he has currently in production on a documentary, “A Higher Law: The Oberlin-Wellington Rescue”, about an escaped slave who was captured by slave catchers for return to his master but was saved by the residents two Ohio towns.
 
Scott has always strived to bring an artistic vision to all of his work, be it a narrative short or feature film or a historic documentary.  The goal of his work is to tell human stories in an artistic way that enriches the story without straying from the truth.
