Indigenous peoples have historically used its tough inner bark for making cords and ropes—fibres twisted or braided together to create binds, knots and tangles. But we didn’t know that at the time. We are all from some other place, taking refuge from the heat.Here and There is the second-year MFA show taking place under a large shade tree, the tree grid by the Wexner Center for the Arts, and within the Fine Arts Library on The Ohio State University’s campus. In this exhibition, we refuse the supposed neutrality of a gallery that shapes the making and viewing experience. Instead, we privilege a response to the material histories of the natural and built environment surrounding us.Exhibiting Artists: Banerjee, Maria Conlon, Onni Estabrook, Sam Lo, Sam Wrigglesworth, Shaheen Beardsley, Shruti Shankar, Takahiro Okubo and Amy ZhangThe MFA class of 2026 would like to invite you to the opening reception of our second-year show, Here & There, on Friday, September 13 from 5 - 7 pm at the Fine Arts Library, the tree grid by the Wexner Center for the Arts and within the canopy of a large tree outside Haggerty Hall on the Oval (see poster for directions). The reception will take place in the Fine Arts Library from 5 - 6 pm before moving Outdoors from 6 - 7 pm.
