As a student of the Department of Art, you have access to state-of-the-art facilities managed by experienced technicians and staff. We are equipped to help you create and bring your projects to life.

Hopkins Exhibition and Meeting Spaces


Whether you have finished creating your works or need an alternate room to meet as a class, we have a variety of exhibition, project, and meeting spaces ready for use. Many of these spaces are reservable by any student of the Department of Art. 

You will find a full list of our Hopkins spaces below. For more information about each of these spaces, you can click on the name of the space to open the drop-down menu. 

If you would like to see when a space is available prior to requesting a reservation, you will find links to the published calendars for each space in the drop-down menus below. 

If you are interested is reserving any of the reservable spaces below please send your request to reservehopkins@osu.edu. In your request, please include the following information:

  • Date(s)
  • Start Time
  • End Time
  • Space(s) Requested
  • Brief Purpose for Reservation (i.e. "Class Critique Session)
  • Any details relevant to making the reservation. If you intend to use any of the available pedestals or movable walls, please make note of this in your request. 

Office staff will respond as quickly as possible to confirm your reservation. If the space(s) requested are not available during your desired time, we will work with you to find an alternate space or time. Please allow for at least 1 business day for us to get back to you with a confirmation. We well not confirm reservations over the weekend nor during university holidays.

Reservable Spaces

As the front entrance and main gathering space of the building, the Hopkins Hall Lobby space provides an open space for both gathering and showing work. In addition to the floor space, chairs, and tables, the lobby also has modular walls for displaying work.

The 146 Project Space offers a lockable room fit for gatherings, critiques, and project work. There are modular walls that may be usable in the space, and we have a number of white pedestals in various sizes available for use.

Room 240 has a large conference table and projection capabilities. Please note that if you would like to use the projector, you must bring your own device/adapters to plug into it.

Room 358 is a large meeting room and collaborative space with projection capabilities, a number of MAC Computers, large meeting tables, and wall space for hanging work. There is a computer available and connected to the projector. You may bring your own computer to plug in if desired.

Jan Dilenschneider Gallery (443 Hopkins Hall) offers a lockable room fit for critiques, and project work.  We have a number of white pedestals in various sizes available for use.

The 469 Project Space offers a room fit for critiques, and project work.

Other/Non-Reservable Spaces

The Clean Space at the Sherman Art Center offers exhibit space for students who study sculpture and glass.

Hopkins Hall Gallery functions as a dynamic learning space for faculty, students, and visiting artists where best practices for exhibition and curatorial development, experimentation, and innovation take place.

Hopkins Hall reaches beyond the College of Arts and Sciences, encouraging departmental and university-wide collaborations in support of the One University mission. Creating a culture of engagement among students and faculty, Hopkins Hall Gallery presents diverse exhibitions that help to define the campus community.

Urban Arts Space encourages transformative experiences that expand worldviews, offer hands-on practical experiences in the arts and education, and help artists develop new career skills to reflect an entrepreneurial culture.

Located in the heart of downtown Columbus, Urban Arts Space joins the university with the state of Ohio and the world, functioning as an arts laboratory for Ohio State's faculty and community artists and serving as a professional launching pad for Ohio State students. 

Urban Arts Space developed a robust online exhibition space in early 2020 in reaction to the pandemic.

Urban Arts Space's Hybrid Arts Lab is a multi-venue learning lab that experiments with how art is imagined, made, viewed and understood. Hybrid Arts Lab encourages collaboration, experimental approaches to artmaking and an inclination toward asking big questions that ignite thoughtful conversations.

Hybrid Arts Lab showcases collaborative and experimental exhibitions, performances and discussions by art makers and researchers in the College of Arts and Sciences. Art makers and researchers are invited to explore new ways of integrating and circulating their creative activity, teaching and research within the associated venues:
