Eiko Otake is a movement-based, interdisciplinary artist. After working for more than 40 years as Eiko & Koma, she now performs as a soloist and directed her own projects. Eiko has performed variations of her solo project A Body in Places at over 70 sites since 2014. In addition, Eiko has performed in many locations of post-nuclear meltdown Fukushima for her multi-year work A Body in Fukushima, her collaboration with historian and photographer William Johnston. In 2017, she launched a multi-year Duet Project, an evolving series of experiments in collaboration. In 2022, Eiko started her ten-year project I Invited Myself, in which she creates, advocates, and exhibits her media works. Eiko regularly teaches at Wesleyan University, NYU, and Colorado College. She received an honorary degree from Colorado College in 2020.
