James Hartunian (b. 1996, Bloomfield Hills, MI) is an artist based in the Midwest of the US. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, a Post-Bacc. Certificate in Studio Art (Art and Technology Studies Concentration) from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is currently an MFA candidate at the Ohio State University.
His artistic research revolves around attempting to mediate human behavior by modifying sensorial experience, whether it be via techno-cyborgian-wearables or built environments, with the ultimate goal of reaffirmation of what it means to be human, or even something extra-human.
