Description

Reception:

Friday, April 10 | 4:00pm - 6:00pm

Among the Shadows in the Intervals of Dream explores the construction of historical narratives and the collective memory. Artists' works challenge authoritative accounts of history by focusing on the gaps and unsettling contradictions these histories paper over. Among the Shadows in the Intervals of Dream takes its title from the poem Absence of Shadows by Chilean-American writer Marjorie Agośin. Like Agośin in her poetry, the exhibited artists question the creation of history, intergenerational memory, and remembrance around acts of displacement and trauma. The exhibition creates a space for engaging lived histories and memories through an evolving set of questions and stories, both personal and collective.
