Since its inception in the 1990s, the internet has developed into the most widespread and primary mass medium of our time. Influencing essentially all facets of modern life, the internet naturally has had a profound effect on visual culture and art. This course entails the integration of image, video, animation, and audio for the creation of internet art. Tools covered include HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, including the artist-developed library p5.js. Taking cues from both the technological developments and the evolving culture surrounding the internet, students will create artwork that engages with themes of networks, virtual worlds, hybrid bodies, and experimental forms.
