Portfolio Reviews

BFA

Students intending to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA.) major in the Department of Art are required to pass a Portfolio Review near the conclusion of the second year of study. The portfolio is reviewed by faculty of the chosen area of specialization as the students complete the last requirements of the core course sequence. Areas of specialization within the BFA degree program are: Art & Technology, Ceramics, Glass, Painting/Drawing, Photography, Printmaking, and Sculpture.

Contents of the BFA. portfolio should represent a variety of work done in the core course sequence but should specifically represent the area of specialization to which the student is applying. Before applying, the potential BFA student must make an appointment to meet with a faculty advisor to discuss their strengths and desired choice of concentration. BFA students may request to change to another emphasis area with the support of their art advisor and the coordinator of the other area.
