Lauren Whearty is a painter from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She received her BFA from Tyler School of Art, attended Yale School of Art’s Norfolk residency program, and is currently an MFA candidate at The Ohio State University. Lauren has lived in Philadelphia, Rome, and Columbus, she has also participated in art exhibitions in each city. She has volunteered at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia, and written art reviews for the Philadelphia Art Blog. Lauren uses painting and drawing to make critical observations of the way we move through the world, frequently presented through human alterations of the natural world. Unexpected moments are given relevance and importance through their isolation and presentation.
