Facilities

In the spring of 1994, a major addition to the studio facility was completed. Funds generously donated by Art Department alumni Roy Lichtenstein, prompted naming the facility the Hoyt L. Sherman Studio Art Center, in honor of his widely respected former teacher. The 20,000+ square foot complex is shared with the Glass program, and includes studios for graduate students and spaces (indoor and outdoor), as well as the “Clean Space,” a large room for critiques and exhibitions.

The Hoyt L. Sherman Studio Art Center is supported by a full-time technician. It is designed and equipped to be a studio where graduate students, faculty and visiting artists can experiment with materials and expressive ways of handling them to best give form to ideas and feelings.
