Graduate students are provided with private and semi-private studios in Hasket Hall as well as access to the several state of the art labs know as the Fergus-Gilmore Computer Studio (FGCS), The New Media Robotics Lab, The Emerging Technologies Lab and the Holography Lab. The Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design (ACCAD) provides capabilities for Art and Technology research.
Fergus-Gilmore Computer Studio
Graduate and undergraduate students in Art and Technology utilize high-end Macintosh and Wintel-based multimedia equipment, featuring: digital video, high resolution slide scanners, large format inkjet printers and high resolution color laser printers. The Fergus-Gilmore Computer Studio (FGCS) is a state of the arts facility for exploration into 2D, 3D, and 4D imaging, animation, sound, web based works and multimedia.
ETS Lab
Our New Media Robotics laboratory consists of electronic test equipment, microcontroller programming workstations and production tools to allow the Art and Technology students to work on a component level with building kinetic, robotic, interactive and sound installations.
New Media Lab
The Art and Technology area supports two advanced Holography labs that are jointly administered by the Department of Physics and Art and Technology.
Holography Lab
The New Media workshop has table saws, drill presses, hand tools, sander, grinder and jigsaws. A well-equipped wood and metal shop and a metal and glass foundry are also available to Art & Technology students through the extensive facilities in the Hoyt L. Sherman Center.
