New and Transfer Students

To enroll in the Ohio State University you should start by visiting the OSU Admissions website. By selecting to major in art, you will be enrolled directly into the Bachelor of Fine Art Degree program. Students who have transferred to The Ohio State University with studio art credits from another institution need to arrange an interview with a faculty advisor responsible for evaluating deferred credits. A portfolio of original work, jpegs, photographs, or other forms of visual representations of the work completed in previous art courses, as well as a class syllabus, or catalogue description of the class, are required to effectively complete a course evaluation and effectively award transfer credit.

Please phone the Art Department (614) 292-5072 or e-mail art_advisor@osu.edu to make an appointment. All transfer credit evaluation must be completed within the first quarter of enrollment.

Transfer students who are awarded credit for course within the core sequence will have an alternate timeline for their portfolio review. We recommend that transfer students work closely with their faculty advisor, the ASC Advising Center, and the Department of Art office staff to ensure that an appropriate program plan is developed.
